MacBook Pro 13-inch (2016) – Description

The 13-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2016) was the first major redesign of the MacBook Pro since 2012. It featured a thinner chassis, all-USB-C connectivity, and two distinct versions:

    •    With Touch Bar and Touch ID (higher-end)
    •    Without Touch Bar – known as the “Function Key” model (entry-level)

🔹 Shared Key Features

    •    Resolution: 2560 x 1600 pixels
    •    500 nits brightness (brighter than earlier models)
    •    P3 wide color gamut for vibrant, true-to-life colors

Build & Design:
    •    Slimmer and lighter aluminum unibody design
    •    Available in Silver and Space Gray

🔹 Operating System:
    •    Shipped with macOS Sierra
    •    Upgradable to macOS Big Sur (final supported version)

✅ Note: This model does not support macOS Monterey or later — it was the first MacBook Pro dropped from support in 2022.

✅ Why It Mattered:
    •    First MacBook Pro with USB-C-only ports and Touch Bar
    •    Start of the butterfly keyboard era (which became notorious for reliability issues)
    •    First MacBook Pro with the new thinner design language still seen in later Intel models

⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind:
    •    Butterfly keyboard is prone to sticking, double typing, or failing
    •    Lower thermal efficiency than later models
    •    Dual-core CPU limits performance by today’s standards
    •    macOS updates capped at Big Sur
